Why do so many romantic comedies open with characters waking up in the morning? 40 Year Old Virgin, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Little Black Book… (Good God, I just admitted to seeing Little Black Book. Actually, I only read the screenplay. For research purposes. Yeah, that’s it.)
While I made an effort in several drafts to identify and eliminate the typical genre cliches from this story, this one survived.
Of course they start that way – love is a dream, and then you wake up. Particularly appropriate for the lost love genre!
