EXT. BLAM! COMICS – DAY

TONY (VO)
Would you like to borrow one of my
testicles?

INT. BLAM! COMICS – TONY’S OFFICE

Tony pushes the “Over” art pages on his desk away.

TONY
‘Cause you need it least one! Man
the fuck up, Felix! What’d
Spider-man do when Mary Jane left
him back in the 80′s? Sit around
and mope? Hell no. He went out
and kicked some villain ass, and
started boning the Black Cat in
spiderwebs all over New York. Do
that!

FELIX
You said there were five good
scenes that showed the relationship
wasn’t going to work.

TONY
Did I? Five sounds generous.

FELIX
Then give me one!

TONY
Will you just let it go?

Felix pushes the pages toward Tony.

FELIX
I can’t! Come on, Tony. One scene
is all I’m asking.

Tony sorts through the comic pages.

TONY
Fine. You want a scene?

Tony picks up a page.

TONY
Alright. This one…

Tony hands the page to Felix.

ON PAGE
An inked drawing of goateed Felix and Faith walking down a boutique-lined street.

TONY (OS)
…The ring scene.

ANIMATED FLASHBACK

EXT. SHOPPING STREET – NIGHT

The drawing on the comic page has come to life. Felix and Faith hold hands walking down the street. Faith holds a shopping bag of clothes, and Felix sips on a milkshake.  They approach Jinx panhandling.

ON JINX’S SIGN:
“Wife kidnapped. Need a buck for ransom.”

JINX
Can the happy couple spare a
dollar?

Faith pulls out her purse.

FELIX
I thought you said you didn’t have any cash?

Faith puts money in Jinx’s jar.

JINX
Thank you, beautiful.

FAITH
I said I didn’t have A LOT of cash.

FELIX
You just gave him a twenty?

They pass a jewelry shop. Faith’s face brightens up and she stops.

FAITH
Can I show you?

FELIX
Show me what?

FAITH
I found it, honey.

Faith grabs Felix by the arm and they enter the jewelry store.

FELIX
Found what?

INT. JEWELRY STORE – NIGHT

A CHIME rings as Faith pulls Felix toward the counter. A snooty JEWELER looks up at them.

JEWELER
Good evening. Oh-

The jeweler looks at Felix and points to a small sign that reads, “Absolutely no food or drink.”

JEWELER
I’m sorry, sir.

Felix shakes his milkshake.

FELIX
Just a sip left.

The jeweler frowns.

FAITH (OS)
There it is!

The jeweler saunters over to Faith and so does Felix.

Faith is looking through a glass case at diamond engagement rings.

FELIX
Oh, God.

Faith looks up at him smiling.

FAITH
Promise me you won’t freak out,
okay?

Felix reluctantly nods.

FAITH
I was in here the other day…
(beams)
…and I found my ring!

JEWELER
Would you like to see it again,
Miss Robbins?

Felix gives the jeweler an inquisitive look.

FELIX
(whispering)
How often do you come in here?

FAITH
Yes, Alphonse, thank you.

The jeweler removes the most exquisite ring from the case, and slips it on Faith’s finger.

Faith’s smile beams as she looks at the ring. She holds out her hand for Felix to admire.

FAITH
Isn’t it beautiful, Felix?

FELIX
Nice. It’s really, really-

Felix holds her ringed hand, and tries to take a peek at the tiny price tag attached.  Before he can turn over the tag, Faith pulls her hand away.

FAITH
I love it!

Faith glides over to a full length mirror and models with the ring, having a ball.

Felix slides over to the jeweler.

FELIX
Hey, Alphonse?

JEWELER
Yes, sir?

FELIX
That ring. How much are we
talking?

JEWELER
A little over thirty-one, sir.

FELIX
Thirty-one hundred.
(relieved)
Doable.

Felix takes the last loud sip of his milkshake.

JEWELER
(chuckles)
Thousand, sir. Thirty-one
thousand.

Felix snorts his milkshake through his nose all over the jeweler and the glass jewelry case.

EXT. STREET – NIGHT

Faith and Felix walk away from the jewelry store. Felix wipes his nose, and is clearly distressed.

FAITH
Are you freaking out, honey?

FELIX
Thirty-one thousand dollars?

Faith nods.

FELIX
For a ring?

FAITH
Baby…

She smiles up at him.

FAITH
…It’s something I’m going to wear
every day for the rest of my life.
Don’t you want your wife to have a
nice ring?

FELIX
Sure. But that’s…

Felix does some quick math on his fingers.

FELIX
…That’s a lot of comic books.

FAITH
Yeah?

FELIX
Yeah.

FAITH
Well, don’t feel any pressure.

FELIX
Of course not.

Faith slides her arm into Felix’s.

FAITH
I’m serious. I’d marry you right
now if you asked me.

FELIX
You would?

FAITH
I would. But don’t, please. Not
for a while. It’s just, I’d like a
nice ring, eventually.

Felix stops and kisses her.

FELIX
You know I’ll do whatever I can to
make you happy.

FAITH
I know. You’re so good to me,
baby.
