As promised, this week will be devoted to giving shout outs to quality comics readers of Over might enjoy. Up first, Danielle Corsetto’s Girls With Slingshots.
What It’s About: In one sentence, it’s about “Two girls, a bar, and a talking cactus.” Obviously, it’s about much more than that, which explains it’s big success as a webcomic. At it’s heart, its about friendship in all it’s forms, and with an eclectic and engaging cast of zany characters, GWS explores relationships in as humorous a way as I’ve seen.
It’s two main characters Hazel and Jamie are two peas in a pod. This recent strip (perfectly seasonal) sums up their relationship brilliantly.

I’ve only been following Girls With Slingshots for about half a year now, but I really enjoy it. In fact, the only thing I picked up at this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con was was the first GWS collection (which Danielle was nice enough to sign and sketch in.) I’m really enjoying it. It is a strip comic, but Danielle does do longer storylines, so it’s not simply a “gag-a-day” serial.
Why Over Readers will dig it: It’s funny, well-drawn, and it’s got sex and booze jokes galore. What’s not to like?

Enjoy!

Love love love Danielle’s work. Bought her first book while at the New England Webcomic Weekend, a month later bought her second online, and recently I pre-ordered the third at the BCC! Score. And I got a pic of her with McPedro. Double score.
I swear, I’m Hazel 99% of the time. Not that picky about pumpkins per say, but you get the idea.
