Jinx Contest!

Alright!  Here are two of the first entries I’ve received for the “Jinx’s Sign Contest” I mentioned last Friday.

This first entry comes from Mike S.  I could definitely see Jinx using a line like that.  Nice job, Mike!

Up next, a bit of dark humor from Kyle M.  (What, with Jinx not having any feet, and thus no need for…ah, you guys are smart, you got it.)  Thanks Kyle!

Tune back in tomorrow for more entries!

And if you still want to enter a sign into the contest, feel free to send your idea along to tylerjamescomics@gmail.com.  I mentioned on Twitter that a copy of my sketchbook with an original sketch would be included in the prize pack from one of the submissions.  So send your ideas on along, and you might just win!

Jinx Contest- Part II

Okay, gang.  Another couple of entries in the Jinx’s Sign contest.  (You can still enter…here are the details in case you missed them.)

First up, a topical entry from Chris P. in lovely Newburyport. Thanks Chris!

Next, we have this submission from Sue M.  Obviously, an American Idol fan.

You know, if you think about it, General Larry Platt would make a damn fine Jinx in the “Over” movie.

More tomorrow, and keep the entries coming!

Jinx Contest Part III

More Jinx signs coming in!

First up, a clever one from Janine. PC users are sure to pitch a buck or two into Jinx’s cup with this one.  Thanks Janine!

Blue Screen of Death!

Next up, this cheeky entry from @Raine_Angel on Twitter.  Poor Jinx.  First he lost his legs…now he’s gonna lose his uterus.

And here’s one from Ty Tyner, a great guy I met at Baltimore Comic Con who colored some pages of “Friend Request“, a horror short that will be published in an Arcana comics anthology later this year.

Hmmm…I wonder if Ty knows this guy?

Back with more tomorrow!  Keep ‘em coming!

Jinx Contest Part IV

The Jinx sign flood continues…

From Frank Dipps, who correctly suggests that Jinx is a ladies man.  Thanks again, Big Frank!

Anthony Ferrante sent in this entry via Twitter.   Make sure you check out Anthony’s comic “The Rejects” when you get a chance.

And last up today is Stone from Laredo.  Hmm?  I wonder if Jinx does a webcomic?  Much appreciated, Stone!

Will finish up the last of our Jinx signs tomorrow!  So if you’ve been holding back an entry, get it in!

Jinx Contest Part V

Hey guys, our last entry comes from Melissa in Slummerville :)

Her creativity obviously couldn’t be contained to just one sign.  Thanks Melissa!

And, I’ve got to admit, running this contest had the ideas flowing for me too.  So, just because I love you guys…here’s one more sign.  This one from me!  (I’m a sick puppy.)

I want to thank everyone for playing!  If you submitted an entry and would like an “Over” postcard but you haven’t emailed me your mailing address, please send it along to tylerjamescomics@gmail.com.  I’ll be dropping them in the mailbox over the weekend.

And I’ll be announcing the big winner of the grand prize on Tuesday!

In other news, Chapter 4 starts next Monday.  See you then!

Scientific Research Links Break Ups to Addiction

New research shows the area of the brain associated with addiction is triggered during breakups.

My Take: Interesting stuff, and not all that surprising.  We all know break ups can make us go a little crazy.  (If Felix was the only one this happened too, I don’t think I’d have any readers.)  While some turn to booze, or self help tricks, or try to get on the rebound train, and engage in self-destructive, addictive behaviors, others take a different path.

I know plenty of people who transferred their break up madness into insane focus at the gym or in other positive areas of their life.  So maybe those addiction triggers break ups cause can be harnessed for good.

(When your not sobbing, still in your pjs at 3pm in the afternoon listening to Ray Lamontagne or James Blunt on loop, of course.)
