So, let’s recap…
Six months of obsessing about “Over“, Felix has managed to:
- Get “Fire of the Pendragon” dropped from Blam!
- Cost Gwen her job.
- Cause Skate to deliver pizzas instead of drawing comics.
- Piss off the boys next store.
- And alienate man’s best friend.
Time to step up to the plate, Felix.
Saving...

Er, I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, but isn’t he a dollar short and a day late if he’s going to put a script out for Fire of the Pendragon 12? Even of he pounded out the best script of his life, Blam still has no money to pay Skate or the inker or the colorist (is it in color?) Or the letterer. He’s got the best of intentions, but in the real world, this would be simply too late.
On the other hand, he could finance the final issue himself, but I don’t see him with an additional source of income…
Good questions, Jules.
First, let’s face it, Felix hasn’t been thinking clearly and ha been pretty much a one track mind kind of guy lately…so that he would jump to this simple fix isn’t really a stretch.
Second, Felix knows Tony. Despite his gruff exterior, he’s a softy. Felix is confident he could win him over…IF he had the script done and done now.
Fact is, even though Tony took a decisive move because the waffling on “Pendragon” was killing him, by doing so, it’s a big loss to him and Blam! (and Felix and Skate.) “Pendragon” is Blam!’s best seller, and this issue is especially important. Pendragon #12 is needed to complete the second volume of the trade paperback AND the first volume of the oversized Pendragon Hardcover. That’s where the real money is to be made, as those books have long shelf lives outside of the direct market.
Felix knows all this. So, he’s in a great negotiating position, if he could just get off his ass and do his job.
Oh, and Blam! comics, like most independent companies these days, offers a back-end deal. So paying Skate up front isn’t necessary. They do farm out the coloring and lettering, but it’s likely that Tony would shell out for that, should he have pages in hand.
Great question though!
Bout friggin’ time is all I have to say.
